Default administrator userid password for workplace installation

Former Member

Dear Guys,

I installed workplace (J2EE Engine, MaxDB and NWDS). The installation got completed successfully, however when I try to login to the J2EE engine (URL : http://localhost:50000/examples_frame.html), it is prompting for username/password. I tried various combination and nothing works.

During installation, I had entered couple of password entries; even those failed.

Maybe I am entering the username wrongly. I have tried admin, administrator, sap, c11adm, adm etc.

What is the default administrator userid password when we install workplace?

I desperately need some guidance here. Please help.

Regards,

Deepak

Hi Deepak,

You are likely to be suffering from a problem with the length of the Administrator password. When installing Netweaver, sapinst will allow you to specify a long password, however it will only accept 8 character passwords once installed. So if you set a longer password during installation, you will not be able to log on using it!

You can fix this by activating the special "SAP *" ser in the Visual Administrator and resetting the password for Administrator. There are a number of posts about this process.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the reply, I was able to solve the problem. I did the following to solve the issue,

1) The default administrator user is "Administrator".

2) First activate emergency user (reference to activate emergency user is available at http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/3a/4a0640d7b28f5ce10000000a155106/frameset.htm)

3) Unlock "Administrator" using useradmin screen (logging in with emergency user id).

4) Reset Administrator's password using config tool.

5) Deactivate emergency user.

References (for guys who might face this problem in future);

1) SAP Note: 669848

2) Activating the Emergency User (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/3a/4a0640d7b28f5ce10000000a155106/frameset.htm)

Mike/Jonathan,

Thanks again for your help. I have assigned points for your answers :).

Hi Deepak,

Try to use user id: Administrator with a password "sap"

(or use user id: j2ee_admin / sap if you install it as dual stack)

Regards,

Mike
