what does the ' higher level account groups' mean?

I think all customer account groups are parallel.

but when access the following path:

Sales and Distribution- Master Data- Business Partners--- Customers --- Customer Hierarchy --- Assign Account Groups

I have to deal with the field 'Hg Lv Acct Gr' which stands for higher level account group'

what dose it mean exactly?

Dear Humility,

In general term higher level account group means which account group is used to the higher level customers in the Customer Hierarchy process.

Or

Which of these account groups are valid for higher-level customers in the hierarchy.
