*What happens to the data?*

"Master-data harmonization and master-data consolidation with SAP NetWeaver MDM allow you to load data from different remote systems into MDM, consolidate, change, or add data and distribute it back to the remote systems."

What happens to the data initially present in those different remote systems?

a] Is it kept until the fresh "processed" data is loaded back in to them from MDM and then deleted?

or

b] Archived once the fresh data is back from MDM?

Thanks

Hi,

The consolidated data from MDM is sent sent back to the remote systems.

Depending on the various systems in landscape, it is a strategic decision by business people what is supposed to be done with the changes in master data of that respective system.

For eg. if the consolidated master data is to be sent back to the ECC system then the changes cannot be made in the transactional system overnight as there may be differnent transactions running on these data.Hence there must be a means provided in these systems to mark those changed records so that business transactions on the older version of unconsolidated data can gradually be blocked and henceforth the transactions may execute on the newer version of consolidated data.

Hope it helps.

Thanks,

Minaz

Hi,

a] Is it kept until the fresh "processed" data is loaded back in to them from MDM, & then it is overwritten by new Consolidated Master record........... (using Remote Key Concept)

Duplicate records in SAP R3 system are not deleted, as it may have reference for transactional data.

Thanks,
