Many Archive files get created.....

Hello experts,

We are using Netweaver 2004 with BI7. we are experience some problem for a couple of days now.

Here, the number of Archive log files that are created are too many in a single day. The size of the Archived files is less than 52 MB. Thats fine. There are some process chains that run in our system, however they are run in the night. I want to know as to why so many archive log files are created on a daily basis. And is there a solution for this. I have checked the transaction SM37 for background job details. They are all standard jobs that are run. On a daily basis, if there are say a 50 Oraarch files that get created, is it normal for the BW system.

In my organization, we take backup always in the morning 7:00 am, and as of now, there are already almost 20 Oraarch files that are created as of now in almost 7 hrs .Is this normal. Kindly help me with this issue....

regards,

sree...

Hello,

Frequent redo-log writes means there is more update activity going on in your SAP Database.

Check ST03N for database activities and find out which users/transactions are causing higher database write activities.

Also, it would be a good idea to go through the following link:

http://www.dba-oracle.com/t_log_buffer_optimal_size.htm

PS: Also search SAP Notes for optimal redo log file size for BW systems, it should help you too.
