Hi Reddy,
Imagine the case when you want to shop online and you get the complete information about the products available with the Pictures, Price, good searching mechanism etc. We can achieve this by integrating MDM with SRM system.
Landscape:
SRM System
MDM Server
WAS
Install MDM Server in any machine but SRM system and MDM System should be in one landscape in order to communicate with each other. You will get two SCA files along with SRM-MDM Catalog installable which you need to deploy on WAS (Portal to access the data or from where you can shop). Along with this you need to UnArchive the SRM-MDM repository to store the products information which is to be fetched from SRM system.
Once you deploy the files, it will create a webservice which is to be configured in SRM system so that webservice can fetch data from MDM and display it on Portal (WAS).
It looks like

Hi ,
Catalog is nothing but information about material with its supplier and price. In SRM Catalog was earlier maintained using Catalog content management. But with MDM u have better features and performance so catalog is maintained in MDM .This catalog is nothing but SRMDM catalog.SAP has already provided with Business content for SRM MDM(repository, maps etc).Inthis case MDM is used as a data hub to store the catalog info along with rich content like images and PDFs.SRM can access the MDM catalog using WAS.
Download the SRM MDM catalog 2.0 business content.This contains a separate MDM server,GUIs ,a2a file,sca files .
Install MDM server and GUI.Aprt from MDM and SRM server we need to have WebAS.
Unarchive the SRM MDM repository(.a2a file)
create roles ,users and fields in that.Load it.
Import the data .
check the data in data manager.enrich it with images if required
Side by side u need to deploy the sca files on WebAS.
on SRM side EBP configuration to be done (define external webservices)
Also assign the catalog to users in SRM
then using the URL
http://J2EE server:port/SRM-MDM/SRM_MDM do the OCI mappings
then u can see the MDM catalog in SRM
U can refer note 1057316 .

Hi,
If u already have one MDM server then need not install the other.Just take care of the sca files to be deployed on WAS.Refer note no 1083126 for version mapping.
see for SRM MDM catalog business conetent u dont have a syndicator so u cannnot syndicate the data back, the catalog in MDM is displayed using WAS.The URL of the catalog is provide in SRM EBP configurations.URL contains J2EE server and port is nothing but WAS server IP and port on which the sca files are deployed(one of the files acts as a connector between WAS and MDM).
