Hi Paul,

PLM is Product Life cycle management. It is a process of end to end development of a product life cycle. The following are the modules which pertains to PLM in ECC 6.0 business suite.

1. XRPM - Resource portfolio management

2. XPD - extended Product development

3. Recipe Management

4. Trial Management

5. Document Mangement system

6. Engineering Change Management

7. Project system/cproject in view of Product developmenet

8. Production planning and PP-PI for process industries ( to the extent of product manufacturing process)

8. Quality Management

9. Assert life cycle management (ALM)

10. Classification

But it is very difficult to expert in all PLM module which is mentioned above. Atleast 3 to 4 module you can be expert and the remaining module you can learn the process flow in PLM.

Hope it will be clear for you to start. Appreciate with points if it is helpful.

Thanks and Regards

Hi Vetrivelan,

Thanks for your reply.

We knew the whole SAP PLM solution is complex, so, if we just want to focus on cProject and cFolder for collaboration purpose, is it possible to setup an IDES system to practice the functionailties?

I'm looking forward to learning from you.

Thanks and regards,

Paul

Hi Paul,

cProject and cFolders are integrated component in ECC 6.0. If it is not installed ask your basis consultant to install in your server. The guideline for installation is as follows:

SAP supports three installation variants for the cProject Suite:

Installation of cFolders and cProjects within the intranet - For internal collaboration only.

Installation of cFolders and cProjects outside the intranet (usually DMZ/demilitarized zone) - Mainly for external collaboration. This installation is not recommended by SAP for security reasons.

Installation of cFolders outside the intranet (usually DMZ/demilitarized zone) and cProjects within the intranet

This scenario is highly recommended by SAP. It should be chosen if cProjects is being used for internal project management and cFolders for secure collaboration with external partners.

Note:The term DMZ is used here in a very general way. More precisely, cFolders or cProjects should be installed in a different network segment to the intranet, which is easier to reach from the Internet. Usually only reverse proxies and firewalls are located in the DMZ itself.

For more information, see the Master Guide for mySAP PLM Using cProject Suite 3.10 on SAP Service Marketplace at service.sap.com/instguides

In the above mentioned, drill down as follows:

mySAP Business Suite Solutions --> mySAP PLM ® using cProject Suite 4.0 or cProject Suite 4.5:

1. Upgrade Master Guide in the cproject suite.

2. cproejcts: guide for implementing object links

Appreciate with points if it is useful.

Thanks and Regards
