can universe be exported to xml?

Hi,

The latest version BOEXI v3.1 can export an universe to DB2 Cube views at "Metadata Exchange", do you know if there's any way to export an universe to xml? If not, is there any roadmap to enhance? Thanks.

Hi,

Could you please try the following steps:

Steps for exporting the universe to XML file using metadataexchange:

1)open the attached universe in Designer XI R3.1.

2) Goto File ->Metadata Exchange.

3)Select the option 'Export a universe to : DB2 Cube View8.1' and click ok.

4)Select the universe and click on next.

5)Enter the Fact name and the schema name and click on next.

6)Select the XML file and click on next.

7)Click on finish

Steps for importing the XML file in Designer using metadataexchange:

1) Goto File ->Metadata Exchange.

2)Select the option Create a universe from: DB2 Cube View8.1' and click ok.

3)Select the XML file and click on next.

4)Select the data provider and click on next.

5)Select the relavent connection and click on next ,followed by finish.

Hi,

I am able to export the XML file into my local folder. Also getting the successful message as well.

But when i look into that folder, there is no such file available.

Hi,

Definitely we have plans to support XML as preferred exchange mode between applications.

By the way, you can build your own XML export using Designer SDK.

You can find the documentation on BO SDKs on help.sap.com.

Search for BusinessObjects documents for product BusinessObjects Enterprise for all realeases.
