please let me know whether thereu2019s a way from within XI to explore the file system? For the abap part we can use transaction u201CAL11u201D to browse the directories mounted to the Application server, but I do not expect our directory to be mapped to the server.
At first SAP XI Administrator have to use sharing options for necessary directory at XI server and after that you will be able to access this directory through any file manager without using RDC or VPN.
What is the purpose? you can do upload download to the file system with SXDA_TOOLS.and can use AL11 for viewing in XI.Other than Remote connection I think no way to acieve it.
You should use remote desktop connection to XI server to access any file directiry on it. But before, you have to get logon and password credential from your SAP XI administrator for remote connection.
