Hi,

By being a XI developer it's very good for you to choose the field MDM Because it requires Lot's of Integration work as far as future is concern MDM has become the hot cake.

Basically Master data management (MDM) is a technology that includes the definition of processes and responsibilities for master data maintenance. In case of distributed systems, MDM has to support the synchronization of master data across the enterprise. In addition, MDM has to ensure the availability of master data in good quality. MDM is the sum of all activities, processes and technical mechanisms that are required to achieve these goals.

If you want Material you can refer help.sap.com which is a kind of bible for MDM. and can also hunt on sdn.

Hope it helps.

Hi Guna,

Being an XI consultant learning any other Netweaver component will definitely be advantages to you,As XI is all about integrating with differnt SAP modules and SAP MDM is one of the important module in the netweaver stack.

MDM is basically an SAP Developed tool that is designed to effectively handle master data in an SAP environment.

MDM can talk to many different SAp and non SAP systems like ECC,SRM CRM,EP and other legacys like Oracle etc.

Whem MDM has to integrated with SAP systems like ECC etc it does need a Middle ware like XI/PI as MDM cannot understand Idocs Bdocs etc.

The data Transfer in this case will be brought about using XI.

So learning MDM will give you an extra edge in integratinga nd communicating with a new and improved tool like MDM.

Besides the best part of MDM is that it is all configuration driven so no coding and much hard work is required to get the concepts right and fast.

You can pick up the subject well with min Time and money.

The present of MDM is unstable but with the release of the latest Version of SAP MDM 7.1 ,it is predicted to be a huge hit.

SAP MDM is definitely sellling as hot cake in the market. With the need to deal with the many increasing Master data problems coming up.

The future looks bright and i would suggest it is definitely not a bad choice to learn MDM now for you.

To learn more on MDM you can refer the below thread which will provide you with ample information on starting with SAP-MDM

To begin with The 4 reference guides are the Bible for learning MDM you can go through them using the help.sap link for sap mdm
