Hi Vsn,

Ale reffers to linking the systems and idocs are the intermediate docs to send the data.

Even we are having EDI to transfer the data with the help of idocs.

The best to learn idocs is please go through Arvind Nagpal book the best book in the history of ALE IDOCS.

Coming to your question on sales process////

Suppose we want to receive the purchase order from the customer and store it in sap then what we generally do?

We get the mail or phone call and we do it manually.

With the help of idocs all the things will be automatic like we will get the data from the customer through EDI and then we will post the data with the help of IDocs. There are lot more scenaios to say..

suppose we need to transfer the customer master data into another system which is located in another country then with the help of idocs we can transfer the data, suppose we have a sap in India and we are having all the modules , but in HongKong we have sales and mm sap implementation server , then at this time we can send all the master datas or transaction datas to that servers through this Idocs..

Hi,

maybe the following information is also useful:

The IDoc partner profile is split into four areas:

- The general partner profile. This is the SAP partner key and administrative information like partner status, partner class and the recipient of notifications.

- The outbound parameter profile. This allows a detailed definition of the outbound process on a partner and message basis.

- The message control profile (in outbound). This is conditional and only in use with applications like MM and SD which make use of the Message Control facility. It points to the outbound parameter profile and maps codes of Message Control to the codes of the IDoc interface.

T- he inbound parameter profile. This allows a detailed definition of the inbound process on a partner and message basis.

The recipient of notifications is an object defined in the u201Eorganizational planu201C. This can be any user as well as an abstract recipient like department or work place.

The partner profile is decoupled from the concrete process implementation by the mean of process code. In the process code table every process code points uniquely to a process. The process code table is maintained in the IDoc control menu.

see also sap notes 47071 and 43089.
