SAP Installation on Solaris Zones

Hi Support Team,

We are trying to install SAP components like ECC,PI,BI,EP and content server in 5 respective zones of solaris. Our infrastructure is Solaris 10 wirh Oracle 10g.We have defined the project and followed all respective steps according to SAP Note no. 724713.

We have executed ECC installation in 1st zone which got struck in 42nd step ( configuration of System landscape directory). We anlayaised through ( prstat -a) that our sidadm and orasid are occupying 100% usage.System gets core dump aftetr this and we need to start the installation again. Our RAM is 64 GB.

So we have started Our PI installation in Zone 2 with different SID and Different instance no.It also got struck in 42nd step ( configuration of system landscape). Here also we have observed the same issue.System gets core dump aftetr this and we need to start the installation again.

Please let me know a few things which iam not sure about :

1. Do we need to change SAP or oracle parameter so that our installation runs smooth

2. W have provided total global SWAP space as 304gb for all the 5 zones. Do we need to increase this. We know that one parameter is hitting us very badly with thich we are unable to perform the installation.

Please guide us accordingly as this issue is very high priority now.Kindly let us know :

1. Can we carry installation of all the components in a single zone inspite of five zones ( 1 oracle installation + 1 instance number + 1 SID )

Thank you. Waiting for your reply.

Regards

Suresh.

Hi.

AS you mentioned in the message it is waiting at configuring System landscape directory. nothing to do at your operating system level for this error most of the times. please verify sapisnt_dir and verify the error message. Since It is PI during isntallation it will configure SLD but in your case it is taking time (But you didnt mention whether it gave any error or taking long time). If you can paste the log some one can help you.

Thanks,

Kiran.

Did you apply the necessary Oracle patches (10.2.0.2 + 50 interim patches or 10.2.0.4 plus the 20 patches?) and the instantclient for the appropriate version?

did you apply all the patches (see above?)

That should be enough

I would not do an MCOD installation.

Zones work very well - I would assume it's a pure Oracle related problem you face.
