Hi,
what is the difference between product proposal and cross selling,
regards
sachin
Item or Product Praposals:
Item praposals are used when ceartain items are ordered. An item praposal is a list of materials and order quanties that can be copied into the sale order.Item can also be selected from a list and copied into a sale order.
Cross Selling:
Cross Selling is selling of another related product to the customer. Suppose you are buying a laptop and the representative will give an offer for Anti Virus along with that product.

Hi..
Product or item proposal is just a list of materials from which you can select particular materials while creating the sales order.

Hi
In short the product proposal is a tool provided by SAP if a particular customer buys regularly a particular set of products everytime when we prepare a sales order we need not enter the products manually. It can be automatically called for by creating a product proposal order with order type MS and assigning the proposal no in his master record(CMR)
When you enter sales order for this customer go to to EDIT in menu bar ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS ---PROPOSE ITEMS or crtl+F11
the system will throw a pop up with the list of products which you can copy and edit also
Cross Selling
Use
Mail order catalog retailers frequently use cross selling to increase sales. When a customer orders an article over the phone, the order taker can suggest additional articles that the customer might buy. For example, if the customer orders a VCR, you might suggest purchasing some blank tapes; for a cellular phone, a leather carrying case.
The sales transaction takes place as normal: The customer chooses an article and the order taker enters it on the sales order screen. The order taker can press Enter after each article, or wait until the customer has finished selecting the article he or she wants.
If the order taker presses Enter after entering the data for one article, then a dialog box appears automatically, displaying a list of articles to be suggested to the customer. These cross selling articles are ones that pertain specifically to the purchased article.
If the order taker waits to press Enter until the customer has finished ordering, then the dialog box appears automatically, this time showing all of the articles in the sales order, along with their corresponding cross selling articles.
The articles that appear in the cross selling dialog box always depend on which articles are in the sales order.
If you want to have the system suggest articles based on the customer's past purchasing history or other factors, Product Proposal in the standard SD documentation
See the basic difference is in Product Proposal the system fully proposes the product
In cross selling Based on the materials selected by the customer the system offers a related product
Like if you buy a laptop the leather carry bag or if you order a mobile then the system asks safety pouch
In R3 product proposal is used
In retail only we come across more of cross selling

Hi,
Product proposal is a list of products which a customer orders frequently. once you create a product proposal, you have an option of selecting materials from that proposal when ever you create an order for a particular customer.
Cross selling is completely different to this. Cross selling is selling another product along with the one customer has asked.
