SMTP COnfiguration

Hi,

We are doing SMTP configuration in our production system , i have a very basic question on this regards.

Does the SAP System must be have direct internet connection in order to send mails to internet address or we can connect the internet via SAProuter to send the internet mails?!

You need to use an SMTP server (MS Exchange, Lotus or any other).

Read the SMTP Guide.

Thanks for your reply.My question is where the SAP system should be provided an internet connection so that we can send mails from the SAP system.

hi,

as a part of configuration, you have to connect your mail Server to the SAP Server.

when you send a mail, the mail from SAP goes to your mail Server located in your company and from there it goes to the recepient

No Internet required on SAP Server just Network connection to the SMTP Server

Nope... is not required on the SAP Server.... The mails are sent to the SMTP Server and from the SMTP Server to the external addresses.
