Problem in opening adobe form

Former Member

Dear Experts,

I have developed an interactive form using the NWDS version 7.0.13 I have given the display type property of the form as "Native". When I open this form on some machine it's opening properly only if the adobe version installed is 7.0 or above but if the version is less than that I am unable to see it initially. Only after going to the Adobe>Edit>Preferences>Internet>Display PDF in browser and checking the option I am able to view it. My requirement is to be able to see this adobe interactive form irrespective of the version of adobe installed on the machine. Is there any option to enable this setting through code or any other option so that I may be able to view the adobe interactive form on any machine with any version of Adobe reader installed? I am using Designer 6.0.

Please suggest your opinions regarding this issue.

Quick and helpful responses will be highly appreciated.

Warm Regards,

Gaurav

Hey Gaurav,

You should upgrade the version of Adobe Reader to 8.1.1 minimum. Also with your designer, you probably want to upgrade to 7.1. Take a look at these notes:

[Note 962763 - Adobe LiveCycle Designer 7.1 Installation|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/962763]

[Note 1176858 - Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.1 - Installation|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1176858]

[Note 834573 - SAP Interactive Forms by Adobe: Acrobat/Reader version|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/834573]

There may be some other notes listed at the bottom of these notes that might help as well.

Hope this helps...

Hi Kevin,

Thanks a lot for your kind reply. But, as I mentioned earlier I need to open this interactive form irrespective of the adobe reader version the client is using. Is there any possible way to achieve this task??

Gaurav

Gaurav,

SAP Interactive forms requires Adobe Reader 7.0.9 or above for it to display/work correctly which is also clearly mentioned in NOte 834573.

Now in case the users on lower release of Adobe say Adobe Reader 6.0, as per my understanding there is no alternative other than upgrading the Reader on those machines, which again the local IT Department may do so without causing any issues to user.

Hi Chintan,

Thanks for the confirmation. Is it possible to invoke a call through webdynpro/XML or Script code in adobe which can enable the option "Display pdf in browser" in adobe reader with any version??

looking forward to your suggestions in this regard.

Hey Gaurav,

I found this on Adobe's site... it looks like it could be a little challenging...

Not sure if this helps, but thought it might be of interest.

Hi Kevin,

The link was really informative but didn't solved the problem completely. Am still looking for a solution. Do you think there's any other work around for the same?

Hi Gaurav,

I'm not too sure. This might be a question for an Adobe forum question. This is a link to the LiveCycle Designer forum.
