ESR is part of NetWeaver. For your second question:

if we install netweaver 7.1 we get it or it stand alone.

It always comes as a part of SAP PI 7.1 or SAP Composition Environment 7.1. It is not available standalone.

There is nothing specifically called Netweaver 7.1. It is just combination all new releases like Pi 7.1 and CE 7.1

when i install that i don't get both (PI and CE) ?

No. Install CE or PI 7.1, you will get ESR

or i have to install SAP PI 7.1 or CE i get it?

Yes, any1 of the two.

HI,

ES Repository is delivered along with the SAP NetWeaver Process Integration (PI) and the SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment (CE). However it is not sold as a separate product.

ES Repository is always deployed and run on a server and cannot be run as a standalone application.

ESR evolved out of the IR of the SAP XI & plays a major role in SAPu2019s strategy to support the Adoption of eSOA.

ESR is not only be part of PI 7.1 but will also be the part of SAP Composite Environment (CE 7.1) in order to allow Java Developers to build service enabled applications.

Yes, as I earlier said, with CE 7.1 and PI 7.1, but not standalone.

2. is it like JCO in java .

Not exactly. It is a set of repository for enterprise services (business functionalities) storing its metadata and references.
