Hi,

There is no license required for DR. As nikunj said if you want to implement Oracle's DR solution

Data guard you need to purchase it.Otherwise you may also implement the same manually, by

maintaining the standby database and updating it manually by applying the redo logs.

Steps for implementing DR.

1) Create the file systems same as your productive server.

2) Install the SAP instance having same SID and DBSID.

3) Take full offline database backup of productive syste,

4) Restore this backup to your DR instance.

5) Create a standby control file in Productive system.

6) Replace DR's control file by this new standby control file.

7) Now mount the database in standby mode at DR.

😎 Make a script for shipping the redo log files from productive instance to DR instance.

9) Apply these redo log files at regular interval by recovering the standby database.

If you have any doubts ,let me know plz.

Regards

Aditya

I am in a process of DR Planning.

My present setup :

O/S : HP-UX 11.31

SAP ECC 6

Oracle 10g Database.

I know about dataguard and i have implemnted same on our other application but not for SAP.

I have ame doubts and I request you to please guide me for the same.

1. SAP License key -- it required hardware key. So will i have to generate license key another hardware key i.e. for machine where standby database.

2. Database on standby site will be in manage recovery mode. Will I have to make any changes or any other file realted to SAP on standby host ? (some i know such as I upgrade SAP kernal, same i have to upgrade at standby host)

Will you give me some link related to document for DR

For DR solution there nothing to pay to SAP.

But you have to pay for DR solution i.e. ORACLE has DATA GUARD.
