Deepak,

I won't give you any answers, just share my experience battling the same problem. Yesterday we tried to apply all related notes with limitied success. We cut the analyze time by 1/3, but the performace is by far worse then our demo system.

Demo system: HP with two processors. Win 2k3, Win SQL 2k5. GRC AC 5.3 on dual stack together with portal and BI. Plus one ERP instance with retail.

Time to analyze a reference role: 13 sec.

Production system: AIX with 4 (?) processors. GRC AC 5.3 on NW7 (one server node) with Oracle 10g.

Time to analyze the same reference role (after tuning): 2m 5s

Maybe there is a parameter that affects the performace that much that we overlooked.

Kind Regards,

Vit

Deepak/Vit,

Try adding a node. That should help.

Hello Vit,

Can you please confirm if you had created BITMAP index on VIRSA_CC_PRMVL

@Deepak, can you please confirm if you are using Oracle >10g, if yes then check abvoe mentione index exist.

Apart from that please use JCO connections only.

Deepak-

Please follow Harleen's recommendations. There are a lot of things to keep in mind:

Sizing

Heap size for each server node

Server nodes for load balancing

Utlizing Adaptive RFC or SAPJCo connectors

If you are still facing a performance issue, I would suggest opening a CSS message so GRC Support can take a closer look at your configuration.

Hi Deepak,

You may refer the following Performance Optimization guide and the below mentioned SAP Notes to improve performance.

Performance Optiomization Guide:

https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/90aa3190-8386-2b10-c4ba-ced67322...

SAP Notes:

Java parameter settings: 723909

Other Notes: 986997, 986418, 1121978, 1063596, 1044173, 1044174.

Make sure that no background job is running while applying these notes.

Also try maintaining Critical Roles and Profiles in Rule architect and in Configuration set the value as "YES for Ignore Critical roles and profiles".

All this should reduce the time being taken for risk analysis.

If all this does not help then please provide some details on your enviornment(version of AC,OS,database).

Hi

Generally it should not take that long for Batch risk analysis... Try some performance improvement measure and also see if hardware sizing is done adequatly.

There are couple of ways you can help to increase the system performance

1. Perform batch risk analysis only on custom roles and NOT on out of box SAP roles

2. Dont perform Batch Risk analysis for profiles

3. SAP Note 1121978

4. There are couple of SAP note to inprove the data base performance.

5. Try to leverage logical system functionality

Hope this helps
