Iam in SAP BASIS ECC 60 R/3 systems.Will it be usefull to work in PI.i heared that it is for only abapers.

That may be the case in small organizations/landscapes but when your PI landscape start to grow (10+ interfaces) then it is advisable to bring more structure for instance by defining roles and responsibilities.
At some point you'll not want the ABAP guy to manage your entire SAP PI installation and there's where the SAP BASIS guru plays a role.

Normally the role consists of the following main activities but its not mandatory:
Install and configure software incl. service packs, patches, etc
Setup hardware (servers)
Configure SAP PI environment e.g. SLD, SLD bridge, SLD synchronization, Solution Manager if available, Transport System
Authorizations and access rules (e.g. users, policies, etc)
Firewall and any other security settings
