Hi,

Being an R3 basis,Its better to be in PI BASIS part rather than developments,You will have to face many new errors in PI basis which you had never come across in R3 basis.

So better to handle both R3 and PI basis part.

Thanks!

That may be the case in small organizations/landscapes but when your PI landscape start to grow (10+ interfaces) then it is advisable to bring more structure for instance by defining roles and responsibilities.

At some point you'll not want the ABAP guy to manage your entire SAP PI installation and there's where the SAP BASIS guru plays a role.

Cheers,

Roberto

Normally the role consists of the following main activities but its not mandatory:

Install and configure software incl. service packs, patches, etc

Setup hardware (servers)

Configure SAP PI environment e.g. SLD, SLD bridge, SLD synchronization, Solution Manager if available, Transport System

Authorizations and access rules (e.g. users, policies, etc)

Firewall and any other security settings

Roberto
