Hi,

SAP strongly suggest to maintain same patch level across the landscape for data consistency.

For client copy also its very important to have same patch level.

You should never never transport any SAPNOTES which changes abap code on development system to the others. Otherwise you may have to increase other systems level to the development system's level due to endless shortdumps after a sapnote transport.

You should freeze non-customer made (not Z... or not Y... programs) program transportation between systems when dev system's level changes.

Be carefull about that.

Hi

Patches are nothing but some program code and table structure changes.Different patches affect individual systems only.

However Performance is only a point of discussion in the Production systems.

Yes.. In the above scenario, it will create problems. For example, suppose SAP has changed some configuration in SP SAP_HR patch 32, and consultants will be creating customizing request for that configuration which will include objects which may not exist or is different in SAP_HR patch 28 in quality and production.

Moreover, if new functionalists and corrections are included in SAP_HR patch 32, it will not be available in your quality and production server which may result in dumps.

So, SAP strongly suggest to keep same patch level across the landscape...

Thanks jazz for your response . One more doubt ,

keeping the latest patch level in the system will help in improving the system performance ?

susin,

The patches in most cases are bug fixes. Therefore running the latest patches results in more stability and not better performance. There are however, some bugs that impact performance and fixing them will improve the performance. Therefore it entirely depends from the patches that you install, but usually you don't get performance improvement.
