Hi Experts,
I know item cat is determined by Doc. Type, ItCGrp, Usage and Higher Leval Item Cat.
In my scenario i am using Doc Type ZOR and Item Cat Grp NORM in material master.
System is giving me TAN as item Cat in Sales Order.
What is use of 'Usage' and 'Higher Leval Item Cat." In item cat. determination and where these are assigned?
Other Example is,
In free good
My Sales Document type is ZOR and Item Cat. Grp NORM (same as above) is used in material master then system is giving me TANN as item cat. How system knows this?

Document type is the document which you are using
Item category group is maintained in material master.
Usage is usefull when we create delivery and require some packing material
At that time give usage and different item category is determined by system which donu2019t have pricing and billing relevance.
Item category at higher level is used when we want one more material should be determined with respect to upper material.
For that purpose higher level is used.
I think so this will clear your doubt.

Ans:'Usage' and 'Higher Laval Item Cat it's linked with an ABAP code .USEAGE INDICATOR AND HIGHER LEVEL ITEM CATAGORY DEPENDS ON ABAP CODE .
