Wiley Introscope: Problem starting Enterprise Manager

Former Member

Hi All

We have just installed Wiley Introscope on our Solution Manager system and we have hit an issue which we can't resolve.

The Installation went fine and the logs reported that it was successfull, however when we try to start the the Enterprise Manager we get the following error message:

EM Web Server did not start. Port already in use: 8081 To change the Web Server port, modify the EM property: introscope.enterprisemanager.webserver.port

So we have changed the port to 8082, 8083, 8083 and still no joy!!!

Does anyone know how to solve this?

Thanks in advance

Phil

You can use non-register port and it will work just find

I used port 49666 but you can go from 49200 - 65...

I don't exactly remember the max number port that you can use but 49600  for example will do it

Hi,

Had the similar issue, here's our solution description:

IS Enterprise Manager can not start because port is in use:

The following Error message will be displayed upon startup:

A socket port was already in use (see the log for the port number)

The corresponding log entry looks similar to this:

11/28/08 02:18:57 PM CET [ERROR] [Manager.PostOfficeHub] Server failed to start listening for incoming default socket connections on port 6001

Verify with netstat u2013pant | grep 6001 that the port is in use.

Possible output is:

1) tcp 0 0 170.251.80.139:6001 170.251.80.139:6001 ESTABLISHED 12136/jlaunch

2) tcp 0 0 170.251.80.139:6001 170.251.80.139:6001 TIME_WAIT/-

In case of 1), check the process 12136. If it belongs to the SMD Agent, stop the agent. Re-check the port, the output should be similar to 2).

In case of 2), set the parameter

introscope.enterprisemanager.serversockets.reuseaddr = true in file IntroscopeEn-terpriseManager.properties.

Then restart the IS Enterprise Manager.

After successful start, re-change the parameter to false.

Restart the SMD Agent

Hi,

Perform any of the two steps mentioned below :

1. Deregister the Introscope Enterprise Manager by clicking on DeregisterEMService.bat which is available @ usrsapccmswilyintroscope

Then uninstall the Enterprise Manager & install it again.

Or

2. Configure the port number property to either 8080 / 8081 in config file.

introscope.enterprisemanager.webserver.port=8080

And restart the Enterise Manager service after chaning the port number.

Also then execute Introscope Enterprise Manager.exe executable.

Hope this information will help you.

ALSO :::: refer to another thread which was opened of the similar issue.

Hello,

i had exactly the same problem and we solved it like this :

Reason :

/usr/sap/SMD of one agent was full and can not running and stopping correctly.

Action:

- control every filesystem of your agent

if one is full:

- delete every "core" "javacore" and "heapdump" files on its FileSystem,

- stop Agent SMD

- verify agent is stopped (if not kill process)

- start Agent SMD

=> start Wily Introscope (after to be sure that there is no process scope (ps -aef |grep scope))

Hope this we help you.
