SAP on AIX 6.1

Dear All,

We are planning to upgrade our ERP05, BW3.5 and EP 6.0 to ERP06, BI7 and EP 7.0.

Right now our OS is AIX 5.3 ML07.

We are getting new servers which have AIX 6.1.

I want to know if there are any known issues with AIX 6.1 with SAP.

I think we will also go for Oracle 10g from 9i. So if there is any issues of 10g with AIX 6.1

I am trying to search service.sap.com, but not finding anything good enough.

Which version is recommended out of AIX 5.3 and AIX 6.1?

Kindly help

Regards,

Tajinder

Is it beneficial to go to AIX 6.1 from 5.3?

We run ERP06 / BI7 / AIX 6.1 / Oracle 10.2. No Issues.

Only during the installation, Oracle complained about 6.1, Ignore the warning as per Oracle. Otherwise no Issues.

We are in

AIX 6100-01

Oracle 10.2.0.4 , Applied all the patches as per installation Documents

Check note 1087498 - Support for AIX 6.1

Also search component "BC-OP-AIX*" and enter "6.1" in the search field.

Hi Markus,

I have already checked that note and the other notes that come up after that serch criteria.

I am finding that information very insufficient.

There would be administartors who have used both of them and i wanna take help in choosing which one should I go for. Should I stay with AIX 5.3 or i should go for 6.1.

What issues can i face in restoring or doing system copy from 5.3 to AIX?

Tajinder

Usually there is a company policy tell you which OS and version to go for. The SAP applications you mentioned are supported on 6.1. SAP has this note which has the already known problems with 6.1.

I'm not sure what you expect they should tell you, what do you expect? Each customer system is different.

I'd install an instance on a test system and check if everything works as expected - if not, either go back to 5.3 or open an OSS call.
