Common division and sharing a material in different company codes:

Hi All,

I have scenario as follows:

X material is produced inthe company code 1000 and division is 10. This X material i want to transfer to the the company code 2000 and division 20. And i want to maintain the same material code(name) in this also.

I need very badly to maintain this division 20 for the same material is it possible?

Hi

Material master record cannot be shared across divisions through common divisions

Because Data at organizational unit level only can be shared

Division is not a organizational unit in MMR

It is field which we give in basic data and sales org data while creating material in MMR

In your case if the material has the same division in both company codes then only it can be shared

Div 10 in CC 1000 and Div 20 in CC 2000 the data cannot be shared

This is very important fundamental concept in SAP

Because of this reason you are not finding Material in common division assignment in VOR2

You will find only customers and conditions and not materials in VOR2

But in VOR1 you will find all three

You should maintain the same division in material master say 00

Logically also a material can be maintained in only one division in MMR

Division appears in Basic data tab in the MMR directly under client and should be same across company codes

Hi Sushil,

If there 2company code is involved then we can not use common division over there.

But if you want to maintain the same division then try to do this customizing.

Go to IMG u2013 Enterprise structure u2013 assignment u2013 sales and distribution u2013 assign division to sales organization.

Assign your sales organization which is assign to company code 1000 to division 20

Then set up the sales area for that purpose.

And then go to MM01 and extend your material to this combination.

Now try to create the sales order and see what division it is showing check out.

If I were wrong in the customizing then please let me know.
