Error in phase ddic_activation while applying patch for pi_basis

hi experts,

i am facing a error in phase ddic_activation while applying patch (sapkipyj7d) for s/w comp

pi_basis.

pi_basis release : 2005_1_700

patch : sapkipyj7d

phase : ddic_activation

server : solution manager

the server is stuck at this phase. any one pls guide me to resolve this issue

Thanks a lot for the tip to trigger in SM64 and to launch pgm RDDNEWPP in SE38, i help me freeing a SAINT queue application wich was qstuck fo a very long time.

Error message in the log was (only saw it this morning... but is clear enough !) :

Have you tried to re-import the packages also check the import log.

i tried to re import but i am again facing the same problem.

In the import log it is showing that everything is successfully completed . i am not able locate the error.

Dear Rahul,

In SPAM transaction, let us know what the error is in the logs.

Goto >> import Logs >> TP System Logs

Goto >> Import Logs >> Queue.

There should be some error over here.. Without the error, its difficult to help you out..

Meanwhile, for this patch, SAP says there will be an error in test import phase. Check if its the same in your case. Refer the below note:

in import logs -> tp system log it is showing that

"background job rddimpdp could not be started or terminated abnormaly".

in import logs -> queue it showing that every action is " successfully completed " .

pls guide me to resolve this issue.

Hello,

What is the version of Kernel in your SAP system. This usually happens when the Kernel patch is low. If your kernel patch is low, upgrade it to the latest.

Anyway, try the following as this has fixed the same issue for many..

Login to Client 000 as DDIC and trigger the job RDDIMPDP manually from sm64 and execute RDDNEWPP from se38 with high priority.

Before that, go to sm37 and check why the log RDDI* which was started by DDIC failed by checking the job logs. Also check sm21 as it will also give why the job failed.

there is only 1 background job so i changed them to 4 then the patch is successfully imported.

i have only one background job in my system.

go to sm50 and check how many background jobs are there in u r server increase them if u have below 4 .

Do yout think I can restart the server ?

What will happened to the active job ?

u r right change that parameter and restart the server and check whether the background jobs are increased.

you can define operation modes

call rz04 and define a new mode with more btc, then call rz03 and switch to the new mode. No need to restart the server for this

In fact I have changed nb of bgd process in rz10 and restarted my server. I launch spam and the import queue started again.
