Dear SAP experts,
in standard system, during the creation of a SO, there's a field in SO item, VBAP-SOBKZ, which is the special stock indicator, is decided by the system in default. normally, in the case of the sales order type KE, this SOBKZ is W. how is this got decided?
i will really appreciate if anyone can help me with this, thanks in advance!
with warm regards,
Hi there,
SPecial stock indicator comes from item catg VOV7 settings. If you check in VOV7 KEN will have a special stock indicator W which will be defaulted into the SO.

thanks Sivanand, i can't believe i forget that, there's one more doubt though,
in sales order type KB with item category KBN, the special stock indicator is set E by default, and i believe this E comes from requirement class 046 for MTO senario, but in VOV7, E is not set in KBN. so can i say that SOBKZ in SO item have two source: the setting in VOV7 and the requirement class? if so, is there a priority between these two, or are there anything else?
Dear Michael
Yes you are right !!!!!
Apart from item category, a material is decided whether it can be a special stock or not is based on the following:-
- Go to material master MRP3 view and see what Strategy Group you have maintained. Then go to OPPS, select your strategy group and see what Requirement Type is maintained there.
- Go to OVZH, select that Requrement Type and see what Requirement Class is maintained there.
- Now Go to OVZG, select that Requirement Class and click on blue lens on top left. You can see a field "Special Stock" there under the tab "Assembly"
thanks

hi Lakshmipathi, thanks for your reply. the answer is much clearer now.
one doubt though,
so the system decides SOBKZ from the setting in VOV7 first, if the special stock in VOV7 is left blank, then the system looks for requirement class, then use the special stock indicator in OVZG.
is this priority right?
