hi harika,

Currently, I am using SAPGUI server. It's very helpful for us as Basis to manage SAPGUI centrally and update patch automatically. But you should consider that to apply patch on SAPGUI (on Windows client) still need user with administrator priviledge. User with restricted access (which don't have install right) cannot be used to update patch from SAPGUI server.

Have a look on my blog below for more further experience.

You are mistaken, if you configure LSH you can do it without

administrator priviledge

You need the Installation Guide for SAP GUI, all information are in this DOC. Try to check for example -->

SAP Frontend-Installation Guide 7.10

The setup folder on the GUI CD/download has a very good installation guide, and has details about setting up the installation server.

Its here too:

https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/508f4fed-9bf4-2a10-2fb9-9fd7fca6...

That is for compilation 2, not the current 3, but the setup is largely the same.
