Hi,
Please find below information which might be useful for you regarding your query:
>Maintain Freight Code Sets and Freight Codes
In this IMG section, you maintain the freight code sets and freight codes.
Freight codes, used in conjunction with freight code sets, are used by forwarding agent organizations or rail companies for the classification of goods to be transported. Freight codes are used for communicating with forwarding agents and are specified in the transportation papers.
There are, therefore, freight code sets that are issued by forwarding organizations and rail companies and used specifically for rail or road transportation
Example:
Freight code Description
4001 Methylalcolhol
4002 Glycol
4003 Alcohol
4011 Formaldehyde.
You determine the freight code two steps in the R/3 system:
Step 1
Automatic determination of the freight code directory using the following criteria:
Country of origin
Shipping type (truck, rail, etc.)
Forwarding agent (forwarding agent freight group in the vendor master under General Data/Control)
If an external transportation planning system is being used, then the freight code set is also specified by the route. See also Cumulation by freight code under the Maintain materials cumulation for routes IMG section.
Step 2
Automatic determination of the freight code by the following criteria:
Freight code set
Material (material freight group in the material master under Sales/ General Plant Data section)
This allows you to determine the freight codes of all materials in a shipment.
One or more freight codes are assigned to a freight class. The freight class is used for calculating freight costs.
Activities
Define material - freight groups
The material - freight group (in material master under Sales/General Plant Data) is used for grouping materials for determining the freight code.
Define forwarding agent - freight groups
The forwarding agent _ freight group (in vendor master under General Data/Control) is used for grouping forwarding agents for determining freight code sets.
Define freight code sets
Freight code sets classify goods that intended for transportation. They are used for determining the freight code.
Define freight codes and assign freight classes
Freight codes classify materials that are intended for transportation and are used for communication with forwarding agents. Every freight code is defined for a specific freight code set. You can also assign the freight codes to exactly one freight class. Several freight codes can be assigned to the same freight class.
Configure freight code set
To guarantee automatic determination of the freight code set (step 1), enter a freight code set for a combination of forwarding agent - freight group, delivering country and shipping type.
Configure freight code determination
To guarantee automatic determination of freight code (step 2), enter a freight code for a combination of material - freight group and freight code set. It is only possible to specify a freight code that is defined for the corresponding freight code set. If you have defined the corresponding freight code to a freight class, this is shown here.>
