We are implemting Charm in our landscape and would like to know about a

few things.

1. cProject and xApps in Solution Manager - R they free to be used or

do they need licensing ?

2. CHARM - Maintenance Cycle - Can a Project be spread across multiple

environments like APO/BW/CRM etc ? And If this is possible, how will

the Change / Transport request numbering sequence be ? Will they share

the same Change / Transport Request number (SID in the number )

3. Non Transportable Changes / Local Transports - How to Record them in

CHARM (Like Number Ranges, Release Strategy #)

4. Workflow Email from CHARM to external email outside of SAP - Is it

possible to send an email from CHARM to an external email like Change

Control Board for approval ?

5. Quality / Test Approval process - Can we attach a word document to

the message area in the Quality / Test Approval process in CHARM ?

Hi,

1) ...

2) A SMI project got only one Maintenance Cycle (at once). Several Logical Components (which cointain the systems involved in the project) may be assigned to your project. When a message is created an iBase component gets assigned (usually the one from the satellite system where the message got created in). To process the Change Request you need to assign a Maintenance Cylce to the message. Only maintenance cycles for which the system/iBase component is contained in the logical component are available for assignment. (also the maintenance cycle needs to be in the correct phase).

Basically it should be possible to use one project for all components but I would not do so.

You would make one landscape dependent on another one (such as when closing the maintenance cycle)

Transports are still created in the satellite system. Only the triggering for creation is done via Solution Manager.

Even with ChaRM transports will still contain the SID from the system they have been created in. Numbering will be as usual.

4) Yes, this is possible. Check http://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700001903822008E

5) You can add files in the document area of a Service Desk Message/Chane Document.

Hope this helps.
