hi

Common distribution channel and division are used to reduce the creation fo master data.

once if you assign the distribution channel data to the refernce distribution channel for which the customer is created.then automatically the customer i sapplicable for the that distribution channel also.

Ex:1000,10,00 referenec distribution channel is 10 for this the Customer master is created.

now you want to create customer master for 1000,12,00 then assing the 12 as distribution channel to reference distribution channel 12.

same for division but no need for material master because here material master has no division levelassignment.

Common Distribution Channel

You can use this menu item to define distribution channels which have common master data. The allocation is valid within a sales organization.

Example

You can, for example, create customer master data for distribution channel "01" and define it so that it is valid for distribution channels "02" and "03".

Note

The master data shared by several distribution channels applies to conditions and customer and material master data. This helps you minimize the cost of creating and maintaining the master data.

You can also update statistics for each distribution channel and division without creating the master data for the different sub-areas of the organization.

Common Divisions

In this step, you define the divisions that common master data should apply to. The definition is valid within each sales organization.

Example

You can determine, for example, that the conditions which are valid in division "01" also apply to divisions "05" and "06".

Note

The common master data across various divisions refer to the conditions and the customer master data.

You thus minimize the effort of entering and managing master data.In addition, you can extrapolate your own statistics per division without having to create master data in the different organizational subareas

Hi

To put it simple whenever you enter a distribution channel or division in sales order the system will search for the valid records in the common distribution channel and division which is assigned

E.G if yourcommon Distribution channels assignment is like this

Distribution channels 11 commonDistribution channels 11

For 12 it is 11

For 13 it is 13

Now in sales order when you put Distribution channel 11 the system will search records against 11

Now in sales order when you put Distribution channel 12 the system will search records also against 11

Now in sales order when you put Distribution channel 13 the system will search records against 13

Records means whatever customer master records, material master records, condition master records which are applicable or available in the common distribution channel will apply to its distribution channel

IMg-S.d-master data---define common distribution channel t code VOR1

The same concept applies for Division

IMg-S.d-master data---define common division t code VOR2

Here there is one major difference in common division

Whatever the CMRs and Condition master records which are applicable or abvailable in commom divisions will apply to its division

Not material master records

Because division is field in MMR and not an organizational unit

That is why you will find only customer and conditions in VOR2 and customer, material and conditions in common distribution channel in VOR1

This is very important assignment without this you cant do anything in S.D

You test it and see and you will understand it much better

Cheers

Hi,

Use of common distribution channel common division u can sell any division product any distribution channel u can able to sell.MY meaning is no restriction u can freely sell any product or material any division any dist canal....

You can define common distribution channels and divisions. This is possible for two areas of SAP, for all master relevant data, and for all condition relevant data.

The path is as follows:

IMG -> Sales and distribution -> Master data -> Define common distribution channels.

IMG -> Sales and distribution -> Master data -> Define common divisions.

Transaction Code - The code here is [ VOR1 ].

After creating the organizational structure and relevant master records you want to use as the masters, that is, in the distribution channels and divisions you are going to use as a reference, you can group distribution channels and divisions separately for master data (which combines customer master and material master records), group condition records, or both master data and condition records.

Letu2019s say you have a product range that is not different for the four different distribution channels you have (the channels could be telesales, retail, industry, and wholesale.) Neither is there a difference in the customersu2019 details when they purchase through one or the other. Thus, you will not want to create a multiple of four views of customer master and material master records. Merely create the customer master records and material master records in one of the distribution channels, such as retail. Then assign the other distribution channels you created in the organizational structure setup to this one.

Donu2019t forget this means you can only create or change master data in the distribution channel that is being referenced. In the scenario above, this means you can only change data for the retail distribution channel. Even if you should access a customer or material master in change mode, press F4 (possible entries), and select telesales, industry, or wholesale, you will receive a message u201CSales area is not defined . . . u201D

The same is true for the sharing of conditions. If conditions are shared, you need only create a condition in the distribution channel or division you are using as the reference. Obviously, this only pertains to conditions that have the distribution channel and/or division in their key, such as a price based on sales area.
