OracleService<SID> failure during ECC5 installation

Former Member

Hi,

I am currently installing a ‘disaster recovery’ instance of ECC5. I have followed the normal SAP procedures to install Oracle 9.2.0.7 and the SAP Central Instance. I am currently installing the database instance, using the ‘System Copy – Backup/Restore’ option from within SAPinst, but have hit a problem in that SAPinst fails to create the OracleService<SID> service. I am running the installation as user <SID>adm, who is a member of the ORA_DBA, ORA_<SID>_DBA and ORA_<SID> OPER groups. This is an Active Directory installation.

I have sent the following message to the SAP Support Portal, but have had not response yet:

I am getting the following error in the 'Oracle Pre-load Actions' phase

of a mySAP ERP 2004 Installation (System Copy - Backup/Restore):

"CJS-00095 Error return code. DIAGNOSIS: Return code 14 of executable

D:\oracle\prd\920/bin/oradim indicates an error. SOLUTION: See log file

oradim.log for details."

The OracleServicePRD Windows service is stuck in 'Starting...' mode and

does not start.

I have tried "oradim -delete -sid PRD" to delete the service and

then "oradim -new -sid PRD -startmode auto" to recreate the problem,

and this does exactly the same - the service is tuck in 'Starting...'.

If I run "oradim -new -sid PRD -startmode manual", this starts the

service successfully and allows me to start and stop the service at

will.

However, SAPinst runs "oradim -new -sid PRD -startmode auto", so every

time I re-try through SAPinst, it fails. Please help - this is urgent!!

Can anyone help me with this?

Many thanks,

Arwel.

Hi Arwel,

Please provide us with the oradim.log.

Hi Alexander,

It’s a one-liner, stating

DIM-00019: Create Service Error.

That’s it!

Arwel,

Stop the installation.

Create the service with the manaul command you used succesfully before.

Open keydb.xml and search for the word ERROR.

Replace this with OK and then restart the installation.

You should then be able to proceed with the next step.

Good luck,

Alexander
