Hello ,

I am posting this thread again , as my previous post gave some errors .

What is ment by heuristics in SAP APO and how can we create a new one.

Hi Arun,

Heuristics is APO or SCM's version of R/3's MRP. It is nothing but netting your requirements and receipts and creating orders if needed.

If I have a requirement (demand) of 10 PCs (-ve)

I have a receipt (planned order or stock transfer or purchase req.) of 5 PCs (+ve)

I have stock of 2 PCs.(+ve)

When you run Heuristics it does netting 10-5-2 = -3 and it creates a receipt (planned order or stock transfer or purchase req. based on the procurement type).

SAP has delivered the Heuristics and is available in /SAPAPO/RSNPDRP1. you just need to enter your parameters like products, locations, version, type of heuristics etc..
