- Return code: 0012

- Error message: A tool used by tp aborted

Can some one please guide me through this!!!

Also can someone tell me how'd i find the version of SPAM.

I jus feel i may need to update the SPAM version.

Read SAP Note 96907 - SPAM Error: TP_CANNOT_CONNECT_SYSTEM CHECK_REQUIREMENTS

That should tell you how to solve this issue,

I have the same problem while trying to update Solution Manager 7.1 with SUM. In the Phase PREP_PRE_CHECK/SPAMCHK_INI for Update SPAM to Version 53, I got the TP_CANNOT_CONNECT_SYSTEM error.

Your answer helped me to solve the problem.

Many thanks,

hi,

maybe the tms configure error, you can check the tms: login client000/ddic, se38, execute "rstptest".

@Kiran and Jazz

I don' think there could be a problem with the TMS.

Tat's coz i did a test connection and there were no errors.

It was fine.

I jus' feel i may need to upgrade the tp.

Ashish,

"Error in TPSETTINGS: transdir not set."

You say that you have done a test connection and it was fine, are you sure about this? The output that you have provided above doesn't show that.

I agree you did a connection test. but did you do the check on transport directory and transport tool? Make sure that too is done without errors. the error you posted says that it cannot find the trans dir in the transport profile. Check if you have both the files TP_DOMAIN_<SID>.PFL and DOMAIN.CFG in the usr/sap/trans/bin directory and its permissions are correct. Also check if the transport directory is correctly maintained in the transport profile.

I jus' feel i may need to upgrade the tp.

.

If you feel so, try upgrading and let us know if it works. i suggested a solution to the error you got.

Cheers,

Jazz

Hi Ashish,

Try this...

1) Delete the TMS configuration and configure it again..

2) After configuring TMS, check the transport profile created or NOT (ex: usr/sap/trans/bin)

3) After that check the connection test goto se38 --> RSTPTEST --> F8 (execute)

4) Execute this command from OS level R3trans -d ( it have to be finished with RC=0)

5) Check transdir path is correct or NOT..?

@ Jazz ....

IDES has been configured as a single system .

@Juan

I'v gone through the note.

I feel there seems to be a problem with the tp connecting to the database.

When i use command :- tp connect TGS

i get the following :-

This is tp version 320.58.06 (release 620)

E-TPSETTINGS could not be opened.

EXIT

Error in TPSETTINGS: transdir not set.

tp returncode summary:

TOOLS: Highest return code of single steps was: 0

ERRORS: Highest tp internal error was: 0208

tp finished with return code: 208

meaning:

error in transportprofil (param missing, unknown,...)

This is tp version 320.58.06 (release 620)

E-TPSETTINGS could not be opened.

EXIT

Error in TPSETTINGS: transdir not set.

Even through TMS is configured, i dont think its working properly.

Please do a TMS check from SMTS --> system overview --> select system --> SAP system tab >> Check >> all 3 checks. Make sure everything is working properly. Seems like transport directory is not set in the TP profile. Make sure the TP profile exist in /usr/sap/trans/bin

If its possible, delete and reconfigure TMS. Make sure you get no errors while configuring and double check using the TMS check.

Dear Ashish,

You got error in the check requirement phase itself... Is transport management system configured? ?I suppose its a IDES system.. So, configure it atleast as a single system landscape. TMS is mandatory for applying support packs. you can do this from STMS.

Hi,

Please update your SPAM/SAINT version to latest available. Also update your kernel along with TP and R3trans. After that try to re-import them. If you are not able to reset the queue just update your kernel,TP, and R3trans.

To check SPAM version :-

type SPAM Tcode and you will be able to see your spam/saint version in top.
