MCOD system - Isolation of components

Dear all,

I am having a query in isolating the components in MCOD database. Let me clearly explain the scenario.

Existing Landscape : Sql 2000 , ECC 5 , BW 3.5 and XI 3.0 -- 32 bit

New landscape : Sql 2005 , ECC 5, Bw 3.5 and XI3.0 -- 64 bit

In One database we have installaed the 3 instances like ECC , BW and XI. Now we are going to isolate the components from mcod and going to install seprate instances with seprate databases.

My question is that. 1. Is that posssible to isolate the component individually from Mcod.? is

possible how it can be done?

2. what are the steps we need to consider?

3. Is that possible to attach the exported from mcod?

Note: this is the production server so we have down time very less,

Please suggest me with your valuble points

please make sure SID<adm> can login you sql server.

i have meet the same issue, i found SID<adm> disabled.

enable it, passed.

Make sure user "SAPServiceBWA" and "bwaadm" has permissions to write to that directory.

Hi Markus,

I have verified the permission for the directory as well and as an another option I also have rebooted the machine,. but still the same error is persisting.

I have tested teh database conenction using r3trans -d ,, If we do so normally we will get some codes like by saying (0000) finished successfully.

In my case,,I tried R3trans -d

Its dispalying the version alone and not an any error or successful code

Any suggestions?

Can you create a file in that that directory manually when logged in as bwaadm?

I am trying to export the component in test and then in production server.

In test server the empty screen is displaying like

Just as info: your R3trans versions are ancient - more than three years old! I HIGHLY suggest you update them once the separation is finished.

I did the kernel upgrade but again the luck is not favouring me,I am not able export BW and XI systems from MCOD.

Now r3trans -d are connecting with succefussfil code.

Any suggestions?

If the log is still telling the same thing (Access denied) then you still have problems with the permissions.

Hi,

As you want to split the systems from your MCOD installation, according to SAP note [388866|http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/388866] the only way to do this is by using the SAPInst / R3LOAD method (mentioned under "What has to be kept in mind" section).

However depending on the size of your systems this could take some time (downtime of your system).

But I think this is the only way to do it....

Thanks for your reply,

I Used the R3load based method for ECC system and made a sytem copy in new server..Now the system is up and running. But I got a problem to day,I started the export of BW system and not able to export.

The issue is R3dctl.exe is running and throwing an error like this

In sapinst_dir i found the log files r3dctl.exe.log adn throwing an error as follows

With this i have searched in SDN and in market place i found the solution is need to set the environment varaible.

No luck On this also action also

Since it is a mcod system, I am installaing from root that is the admistrator user and also i tried to export from SIDadm,

No luck in this one also Its not worked out for me...

Next step

Then i applied the recent patches for r3dctl.exe,r3sczkl.exe and r3load.exe as well.

I am totally helpless in this and not able to take export on this,,Any suggestions and comments are highly appreciatd.

Please post more of the log. This error just means, that there was something wrong with the database connection.

can you please specify what did you set for environmental varieble HOME and where did you set.

Since you need to set this under user variebles and also under system variebles.

I have the set the environment variable (Home) in both user variable as well as in system variable with the value of home diretory of the user. For example (c:documents and settings/SID<adm>)

As you said, R3ldctlExport.log . it contains..only * ERROR: DbSlConnect rc= 99 *

MOS-01012 PROBLEM: 'E:\usr\sap\BWA\SYS\exe\run/R3ldctl.exe -l ./R3ldctlExport.log -p H:\Software\BW_CHECK/DATA/ ' returned with '2' which is not a defined as a success code.

In sapinst_dir i found the log files r3dctl.exe.log adn throwing an error as follows

ERROR: DbSlConnect rc= 99

ERROR: DbSlConnect rc= 99

ERROR: DbSlConnect rc= 99

ERROR: DbSlConnect rc= 99

ERROR: DbSlConnect rc= 99

ERROR: DbSlConnect rc= 99

Hi,

If there is space left in the path specified, c:documents and settings/SID<adm> need to recheck that path since there should not be space given, if there is space left the path cannot be identified by the system, see if you can modify the folder name of documents and settings and retry, or change the home directory drom this location to some other location and point accordingly.
