MDM Development standards, templates

Hi Guru's,

I have a basic question, Do we have any MDM Development standards or Namming convetions for Repsitories, Ceration of Tables or Fields or user interfaces (API's) etc.

Hi,

Actually it depends on you. if you want to go for best practices then follow a standard templete from your end.

As such there is no standard naming convention is being provided by SAP.

yes as in other answer if for any master data object with particular MDM combination you can have this is like 55420_Vendo. MDM 5.5 SP 04 patch 2.

Idea of making these options(Port number, Repository name...) should contain some standard so that it

should be end user friendly.

Thanks for your quick reply.

But, I am looking some thing related to documents .

Example: My project is ABC and working on console (repositories, Ports, Maps,Users, Tables, Fields)

ABC_MDM_Console_xxxx_repositories

Do we have any specific naming standards for all these.Some thing like the above mentioned line.

Hi Srihari,

As we have mentioned that there are no templates available but you can get the idea about naming conventions from standard SAP shipped repositories like Customers, Business Partners etc.

Thanks for all the updates on this. I could find a solution from SAP raising OSS Note. Got an idea of Naming Standards from Standard Repositories of SAP MDM.

Hi Srihari,

There are no Standard naming convention for naming a repository ,remotes system and ports.

But if you are working with the SAP delivered standard business content reositories you can have a fair idea of the naming conventions used by SAP for Repository fields ,Remote systems ports and Users etc.

You can use the similar pattern for naming your customized repository details.

The objective being the naming pattern must be self explanatory and well defined.So Clients can use their own naming pattern the define their repository details in MDM for better understanding.

Hi Srihari,

There are no standard naming conventions as such but it is always a best bractice to come out with one.

But if we use the business content then, SAP provides with standard naming convention like 55410_vendor ie. verson 5.5 patch 04 .
