Hi Swari ,

Client system in MDM terms is known as REMOTE SYSTEM.

It is under the admin node after the change tracking table.

The remote system or client system as you call it in MDM is the MDM virtual system table which is used to identify the target system in the real landscape.

for eg: If you are integrating MDM with ECC. ECC will then be your target system from where you will input uncleansed master data, cleanse it in MDM and then syndicate the accurate data back to ECC.

You thus need a table in MDM which will store this information and act as a medium to exchange data through and flow.

The MDM remote system serves exactly the same purpose.

Every record under the Remotes system table in MDM refers to a real time target system through which MDM connects, its type either Inbound/Oubound will determine whether this remotes sytem is used to input in or output out master data.

Remote systems in MDM is always used in conjunction with Ports.

Ports are the actual entry and exit paths from where data transfer takes place. On creation of ports ,MDM automatically creates a Ready folder under the server folder on your system, this is the location form where MDM either picks the file or pushes the file.

Follow the below links to understand how remote systems and ports work in MDM:

Hope It Helped

Hi Swari,

You will have to create one new remote system represnting the R3 systems and set the property for same. It can be done in the Remote Systems Table present under the Admin Node of the repository.

You will have to create ports after that.

You can refer to the link below. It tells in details the purpose of Remote systems & port.

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_mdm550/helpdata/en/8e/9f9c427055c66ae10000000a155106/frameset.htm

Go to Remote systems & MDM.

After creating remote systems and ports, you can go with the documents guiding for the R3 Integration with MDM. Please find the info below:

R3-XI-MDM INTEGRATION-

1) Firstly you will have to extract the look-up table data from R3 using MDMGX transaction-

Please follow this link to know about the same:

How to Configure Master Data Management Reference Data Extraction -

https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/f0740b31-a934-2b10-2e95-af225299...

https://websmp203.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/012006153200000394732006E/MDM554_GenericExtactor.pdf

2) For loading the main Table Data into MDM, kindly follow the link below, which will guide you to the config/prcoess that will be required for the data to be uploaded from R3 into MDM.

2.1)

You will have to extract the data from R3 in the form of IDOCS and then using XI, you will have to convert them into XML format as MDM understands that.

2.2) For the process of Data from MDM back to R3, kindly refer this link below:

2.3) For general info about this scenario, kindly refer this link below:

Please follow these links for additional info-

1) SAP Network Blog: XI Configuration for MDM Integration - Sample Scenario-

2) The below given blog can be used to understand the XI config done when data is sent back from MDM via XI to R3.

MDM->XI->R3

3) MDM 5.5 data distribution using SAP XI -

Hope this info helps.
