Hi,

Data Quality refers to the quality of data. Data are of high quality if they are fit for their intended uses in

operations, decision making and planning.The state of completeness, validity, consistency, timeliness, and accuracy that makes data appropriate for a specific use.

Master Data Quality includes the whole array of features used to ensure utmost quality standards regarding accuracy, validity, completeness, consistency, or timeliness. Specific topic areas include data normalization and standardization, data validation data enrichment, and de-duplication.Master Data is key to so many systems and processes and poor quality Master Data has a ripple effect across all your systems. Many companies therefore focus their data quality efforts here.

two aspects can be

1. Essential capabilities of MDM guarantee high

quality standards throughout the enterprise

2. Provide top-notch master data for sustained

cross-system data consistency

we can handleIncreasing Data Quality with Mapping & Conversion of fields, validation and assignments, work flow and afcoss now with business object integration(Enrichment architecture)

Data Quality is a very generic term and there are many tools in the market to address this .

The differentiator is how MDM can handle data quality ,besides addressing the differnt master data maintainence features.

Data quality in SAP MDM can be handle by the effective use of the following features of MDM:

- MDM workflows: This feature takes control of the flow of master data from one process to the another,with a team responsible to evaluate and check the master data contents at every step ensuring only correct data is created.MDM workflows has steps like Notify,Approval and process which handles these activities.

- MDM Validations: This feature mainatins the master data quality in MDM by validating the records for differnt conditions before storing it in MDM.Thses valiidations are very easy to build and prompts the user with an error or warning message when any validations are violated ensuring good quality data.

Apart from this, MDM can be used for Governance where in you can incorporate workflows and approval mechanism for creation, changing and updation of data. This will ensure the Master data quality to be high in MDM.
