Hi,
1. Please tell me what are the advantages of Proxies over iDoc?
2. When I should use proxy and when I should use iDoc?
Thanks,
Nishant

Hi,
another adventage for proxies is that all the design is done in the Integration Repository and the design is not split up to different systems since IDOC and RFC function modules are "designed" in the sending system.

While using Proxy:
i) You can send attachments with proxy
ii) Synchronous communication is possible
iii) Best for handling the large amount of data
iv) It can be scheduled as per the need
Above things are not possible with IDOC except point iii.

You can use Proxy if you require any of above mentioned requirement in your scenario or there is no IDOC available, otherwise use IDOC.

hi,
1) IDOC is considred as very larg structure. and hence only fissible when u dont have very large amount of data.
proxy is used generally for very large amount of data.
2) proxy can be schedule but in idoc it can be collected and u need to clear it when u required.
3) performence wise proxy is better than idoc.in proxy it is configuring local intigration engine and message get transformed in XML in local system only.

Hi
this basically depends on your scenario. You can check conditions like.
1.If you want to send data in any format then go for proxy and if fixed structured data is required go for idocs.
2.since in proxy adapter engine is not required its improve the performance for huge volume of data, but if again you want to extend or store data further go for idocs.
3.IDOC can be triggered immediately and also by background job, Proxies can be triggered like that . It all depends upon the requirement.
