MDM Console listing many inactive connections

Hi all

Our MDM 5.5 system is showing over 380 connections through server --> repository --> Admin --> connections, most of them are inactive for over 7 days, is there anyway to disconnect these manually ? I cannot see a way through the admin console.

This is a POC system, so there are only a few developers using it.

We recently installed the ABAP API on our BW system and the MDM developers are connecting via ABAP API, thats when these open connections started.

The only OSS note I found is Note 1154389 - MDM Console listing many inactive connections, but this talks more about the Java API than the ABAP one.

Thanks.

Hi Ecnirp,

The connection Table under MDM console can only show you the number of connection to your MDM server Repostitory, however to disconnect those connections you will have to manual go and close those applications accessing the specified repository.

As long as the Repository is accessed by that application it will be visible under the connection table.

If you want to end all the connections, you can just unload the repository or max stop the server .This will automatically break all connections.

The only disadvantag ein doing so will be taht along with all your inactive connections, the active connections will also break.

Hope It Helped

Hi Encrip,

Please find below the help.sap.com explanation of Connection tables in MDM.

The Connections table is an MDM system table with a predefined set of fields, and records that appear in the top-right Connections pane of the MDM Console. Each record that MDM maintains corresponds to a currently connected MDM client application, along with the connection time and time since last access, allowing you to monitor connection activity.

When you first create a new MDM repository, MDM automatically creates the Connections table (as a child of the Admin node of the Console Hierarchy tree).

The properties for each connection are listed in the following table; none of the properties are directly editable in the Connection Detail pane, which is read-only.

Property

Description

Name

The user name

Host Name

The system on which the MDM client is running

Application Name

The MDM application (for example, Client, API, Import Manager)

Connection Time

The date and time the connection was established

Last Activity Time

The date and time the connection was last accessed

Hence, this is automatically done by the systems. So any user which has logged on to MDM import Manager, Data manager or Syndicator can be removed by Un-loading the repository. The users will be disconnected and hence the connection table will be updated.

So as Jitesh has also points out, kindlu unload the repository and load it again. This will however affect all the users working on MDM clients.

Hope this info helps.

Hi,

There is no way to directly disconnect the connections. Unload-Load MDM repository once.
