Hi there,

In 1 sense, both are the same. But there is something called make to stock & make to order. Inmake to stock, items are manufactured or procured for stock purpose. The stock is used to fulfill all orders.

But in make to orders, stock is manufactured or procured only to fulfill special orders. Items are made available only when there is a special requirement.

Apart from this, there are special sale processes like

Cash sale: When customer makes the payment immediately & takes the goods.

Rush orders: Delivery is made immediately but payment can be made at a later time.

Hi roddick

I think Normal sales and sales from stock are same. But Make to stock and Make to Order stock will be different as Make to stock will be in unrestricted use stock where as Make to Order stock will be a special stock as that stock is ordered by a customer with some specifications.

Dear Roddick

I dont think there is much difference between these two. Of course in sales, we can distinguish the sale types as Cash Sales, Down Payment Billing, Rush Order, Normal Order etc.,

In the above categories, normal sale order can further be distinguished as Make To Order and Make To Stock scenarios and this has to be decided based on the manufacturing process and the client willingness to opt any of the above.

In both these scenarios, the flow would be Order --> Delivery --> PGI --> Billing.

Still if you need any further clarifications, please feel free to post.

thanks
