can we automate the process :
Running MDMGX in R3 -
extracting files into specified file where MDM can pick and import into MDM.
Hi Nagalakshmi,
Using MDMGX, you can extract the check table data from the R3 system.
You have the provision either to extract the XML file directly to your local desktop ie you r local download or you can also upload them via FTP.You need to provide with the uname and pwd of your FTP path and the file will be directly extracted at that path.
Once it is there, you can always execute the automatic import or the manual import to get the data into MDM.
Hope it helps.
Thanks,
Minaz

Hi Nagalaxmi,
Once the Check table records are extracted to the Inbound ready folder and this ready folder is FTP enabled.
Then all you have to do is just the basic configuration to set up automatic import and run the import server. The check table records will get imported in to MDM based on your processing interval.
Follow the below steps after the check table records are imported:
- You will have to Create Remote systems for the number of checktables.
- For each of the remote system create a port .
- Make the ready folder of that port FTP enabled.
- Set the property of the ports - The procesing Type must be Automatic.
- An Import map must be generated for the import of the records and this Saved map name must be mentioned in the port.
- The MDIS.ini file must be configured.
- The import server must be up and running.
You can follow the below link which will guide you on automatic importing:
Hope It Helped

Hi Laxmi,
We cannot automate MDMGX and infact there is no need to because we extract lookup information by using MDMGX which is one time activity. Lookup information is some thing which doesn't change frequently.

Hi,
For automatic importing configure your FTP so that your files can be placed in the proper inbound folder.

but if sometime later if client have decided to remove some values form lookup table, will it be reflected into MDM.
Or even if we run the MDMGX again we cant get the existing values deleted from MDM,we need to delete it manually
Do we have any solution for it.Plz reply me ASAP.

Hi All
Periodic refresh of lookup tables is another standard requiremnet and is supported well by MDM and ECC. For MDMGX we can save the variants including all the lookup tables for the object concerned with port and FTP settings. Then add this Variant and schedule using SM36, define the ABAP program name and other details.
Define the period of jobs at frequency which is desired. You are done.
best regards
Ravi
