database admin

All,

During sap implementation will there be any specific database admin,OS admin or only sap basis admin has to take care of the database and OS ( including creating tables ,writing SQL statement).

sap implementation

In any case BASIS admin must know the OS and Database specification ...

Can you explain what for you sap implementation ?

Say for eg: you are implementing ECC 5.0 with oracle database.After the implementation you are suppose to monitor the database as a basis admin.My question is do creating database tables ,index for the tables,tuning the expensive SQL statements are basis job or database admin or Abap developer ?

Hi,

As BASIS admin you would be responsible for monitoring, backup, performance tuning of Database system.

Table creation your ABAPER will do it at DDIC level that is using SE11.

SQL statements tuning this if the statment refers to the Z programs develped by your abaper then they have to fine tune them.

Tuning must do the BASIS admin, this is his problem as he will do so with DB gurus or himself ...
