PRODUCTION PROBLEM when updating

We had production problem. Users had problems when saving documents. Dialog was ok. In a hurry we restarted system and the system is now ok.

How to check what was wrong?(this is most important)

How react if this happens next time?

check out system logs SM21

check dev trace file , gateway and message server trace file ..

as mentioned by sunil update server ( use SM13/SM14 for update server status ) gets deactivated because of many reasons eg database , log file full

check whether your update process was active? (SM13)
