Database restore on different server

Dears,

We are using ECC6 on HP-Unix with Oracle 9i database.For backup we use varitas netbackup utility.

Now to confirm that backup is running fine we want to install a demo server and restore our PRD backup on this server.

Now as I come to know this is called redirected restoration and for it after sap installation first we need to do;

1. Configuring the NetBackup server

2. Copying files from the source client to the destination client

3. Configuring the NetBackup for SAP destination client

4. Performing the redirected restore

For step 2 I need to do;

a. Copy the following files from the source client (normally in

$ORACLE_HOME\database) to the same directory on the destination client:

◆ init<SID>.sap

◆ init<SID>.utl

b. Copy the following control files from $ORACLE_HOME\sapbackup on the source

client to the same directory on the destination client.

◆ back<SID>.log

◆ SAP backup log file

But I am not sure what are the activities I have to do for step1 and step 3.

For Step 4 as i know i have to perform perform command;

brrestore -d util_file -b last -m full

So please suggest what are the activties i have to do for step 1 and Step 3 as I am not familier with Veritas netbackup tool.

Also check step 2 and step 4 and make me correct if anything is wrong there.

Then you need a Netbackup expert not a SAP one. :-)...

Anyhow, why don't you just do a Homogeneos system copy?
