Local number range intervals

Hello experts,

I am unable to create a sales order . After saving it, it provides an existing sls order number and the new order number is not created. I think this has to do with doc number range. In VN01 for 01 sales order, on the top menu, yuo can go to LOCAL NUMBER RANGE INTERVALS. I found that the existing order number is in one of the intervals here for which the current number already existed. How come it still refers to existing order number ? When i run FM Number_get_next via SE37, it shows me the correct new order number. Our doc number range is using number buffer. Can you pls provide suggestions ?
