Friends,

During implementation

How one should define sales org, using new entry or copy option?

If clinet dont want to go for Route determinaiton do we need to define loading point and transportation planning point?

Is shipment creation (VT01) is compulsary?

Is customer material info record is mandetory?

Thanks

Hi there,

It is always beter to copy the new configs from already existing settings.

For eg if you are defining a new sales org 2000 under company code ABCD, then copy 2000 from existing sales org 1000 which is also assigned to company code ABCD.

If the client doesnot want to determine route, then how does he think he wants to ship the goods to the customer? Unless route is proposed, how will the system know how & in which route the goods are to be transported? Transportation planning point is not just for routes, it is also for deciding on which forwarding agent to choose & monitor the shipments. Loading point is not mandatory but shipping point is mandatory through which your deliveries are processed. So it is mandatory in a delivery to have a shipping point.

Shipment creation is optional not mandatory. It is used to by the forwarding agents & SAP to monitor the deliveries that are sent & what stage the transportation is. If you want to implement shipments, then you have to maintain the routes.

Cust-Material info record is not mandatory. It is just used to propose plant in a sales order. It will just give you the information as to which material is served by which plant for a customer. If this is not maintained, system uses the customer master or material master to propose the plant.

Hi,

Copying enterprise structure components will minimise the error and you may save a lot of time. If you started creating new, all the relationships to that object should also be setup. So copy from the existing and edit it to your needs.

As in the earlier reply said, loading point can be defined, but no need of a transportation point. When ever the business wants to go for it, you can always configure.

Shipment creation is not compulsory, it also depends upon the client's business scenario.

CMIR is also not a mandatory master data.

Hi

Always remember this

When you define enterprise structure always plant and company code has to be copied from the standard because a lot of its associated tables gets copied which makes our life easier in the future

For sales org it can be defined as New entry

You will not have any problem

But the standard practise is to copy from the standard and modify

Atleast according to me with SO either new entry or copy doesnt make any difference

CMIR is not mandatory but depending upon business scenario if any customer material specific record is maintained that takes morepriority over CMR otr MMR

For the third Qn ans is optional

Not sure about your second qn

In real time implementations enterprise structure is created only ,no copy ,all tables are created

Hi Shiv,

Is customer material info record is mandetory?

This is not mandatory in the business, if the business wants then we can activate it.

Is shipment creation (VT01) is compulsary?

This is also depends upon the client.

If the transportation is implemented , then it is needed or else it is not.

If client dont want to go for Route determinaiton do we need to define loading point and transportation planning point?

Loading point may be needed in certain cases but transportation planning point not needed

How one should define sales org, using new entry or copy option?

you can go with new entry
