optimizer_index_caching

Hi,

There was a latest update on SAP Note 830576 and it says do not set optimizer_index_caching.

Earlier it was 50 for OLTP and do not set for OLAP. Did anyone of you change this parameter to latest?

I just wanted to know why SAP does not recommened it now.

Maybe somebody ran into this bug:

Bug 5578791 - Combination of optimizer_index_caching and optimizer_index_cost_adj increases Cost

Description
    A combination of optimizer_index_cost_adj and optimizer_index_caching 
    could cause a higher cost for Nested Loop joins.
    If optimizer_index_cost_adj <100 and optimizer_index_caching >0 
    The Nested Loop join cost could be more expensive than with optimizer_index_caching=0

I saw it on Oracle Metalink, if you don't have an account you can try SAP note 758563 - Oracle Metalink access for SAP customers. That used to work in the past, although it failed when i tried today ...
