New Index on table NAST and locking

Hi,

I need to transport a new index on table NAST which has 8m records - will the locking cause problems to SAP users if I do this when the system is active ; I estimate the build of the index will take about 15 minutes but am not clear what levels of locking happen to the physical file during this time. I have seen a couple of posts on this already but need to be 100% sure I don't lock users.

Hello David,

It might depend on the type of the index. For Z index, it is likely fine - no exclusive lock needed.

To make sure, you can check with WRKOBJLCK when the transport is being imported into the QA system.
