Changing Admin password stops the import

Former Member

Hi all,

We were trying to change the Admin password in order to secure the repositories. We have done the following:

1)

In mdis.ini and mdss.ini we searched for the following text:

[Customers_ConsolidationP95ORCL_23_3_4_3]

User=Admin

PasswordE=XXXXXXXXXX

And changed:

PasswordE=XXXXXXXXXX

to

Password=<New Password>

2)

The password for the Admin user was changed in the console to <New Password>.

3)

The import server and syndication server was restarted. When mdss and mdis was run the passwords were encrypted and Password was changed to PasswordE.

The problem now is that the automatic imports has stopped working. Are there any additional steps we need to take to change the password?

Kind Regards,

Christian

I tried restarting the import server and syndication server yet again, and it solved the problem. Thanks for your effort!

Hi Christian,

You can change the Admin password in MDM without any problem affecting the mdis or mdss.

If the above mentioned solution do not work.I would suggest that you first change the Admin password in the MDM console under the user table.

Once this is done then open your MDIS and MDSS .ini file and save the changes pwd in those files under the specified rep.

Now Stop and Strat the Import and syndication server form your Services.

Then check if your importing and syndication is working fine.

Hope It Helped

Hi Christian,

The procedure you have mentioned is excatly right thing to change the User = Admin & password.

1. Stop the mdis & mdss.

2. Copy the mdis.ini &mdss.ini on your machine. open it in notepad ( please don't open it in wordpad or in other file extensions, when you want to do changes in the file, because when you copy mdis.ini & mdss.ini back to the MDM storage directory, some times it does not work).

3. Change the Password=<newpassword> under the User = Admin of every Repository.

4. Copy back to the MDM system.

5. Start the mdis & mdss, confirm both are running.

6. Now, check the MDM system (mdis.ini & mdss.ini - they should in open in notepad format)

7. You should find the Password=<newpassword> as PasswordE=encrypted format.

8. Change the passwrod in the console - Reposiroty - Admin -User (admin)

9. Confirm if the Directory where you are placing your source file is same as in the mds.ini -( Distribution Root Dir=......).

Now, your automatic import should work.

Hope it helped.
