Can XI process the sold-to IDOC before the processing the ship-to IDOC

Hi Experts,

Can XI process the sold-to IDOC before the processing the ship-to IDOC? For example if I have 10 IDOCs for both sold-to and ship-to, Can XI process all Sold-To IDOCs first, then process the ship-to IDOCs right after? I know that this can be acheived by using BPM. Is there any other way?

There exist a possibility to serailize the idocs based on various criteria
