we have one material where we want to maintain class(class type 300 variant class) as component of that material. but when i try to insert the class as component(in CS02 - class Tab page) - i am getting the erros message that "class type 300 not supported in configurable objects"
if u want the main material to be put in to BOM cs02 then the main material has to be Configurable material and if u want to put sub material as VC material then create and add as item catagory K. in noraml material u canot insert the variant material
let me explain my question with one simple example
we have BOM material "DESKTOP PC" where we have diffreent component like MONITOR, PROCESSOR, MOUSE, KEYBOARD.
Now i want to maintain variant for the component MONITOR(variants like SIZE, MANUFACTURER ETC)
So when we enter the material "DESKTOP PC" in sales order the BOM should be exploded as well as the system should ask for selecting the characteristics of sub item "MONITOR"
For this implement VC, Then system will explore all the variants, when u r enter the config materil sysyem will show the all variant , u have choice to select suitable varint

1. BOM material "DESKTOP PC" with Gen item cat 0002 and item cate LUMF
2. we have maintained component material like MONITOR, KEYBOARD, PROCESSOR, MOUSE
3. We have assigned these component to the main material in CS01
4. we have maintained one class(300) with characteristics and values
5. we have assigned the class to the material MONITOR.
6. Hve maintained item cat. determination for - OR - 0002 - TAP -
TAQ
But when we enter the material DESKTOP PC in the sales order the BOM explosion is happening but it is not asking to select the variant of sub item MONITOR
